Background

Divinatory geomancy is a calque of the Arabic ʿilm al-raml, "science of the sand". It was widely practised in medieval and Renaissance Europe, with treatises by Henry Cornelius Agrippa and others, before interest declined in the 17th century.

How it works

Sixteen lines of marks are made without counting; odd or even gives each of four "Mother" figures. Daughters, Nieces, two Witnesses and a Judge are derived from them by fixed rules and read together.

Notes and limits

Safety: A chart is a prompt for reflection, not a prediction.
