Background
Automatic writing, or psychography, is a claimed psychic ability to write without consciously doing so; practitioners say spirits move their hand. A planchette or Ouija board may be used.
How it works
The writer holds a pen loosely, relaxes and lets the hand move; the text produced is then read.
