How this reading works

Ogham is an early medieval alphabet used for Primitive and Old Irish inscriptions. Its tree associations come from medieval Irish texts such as the Auraicept na nÉces and In Lebor Ogaim, and several are uncertain later glosses. Using Ogham for divination is a modern practice. This tool draws letters at random as prompts for reflection, not predictions.

Ogham sticks (fews) are drawn or cast, and each letter is read through its name, its medieval kenning (bríatharogam) and its associated tree or plant.

Ogham is an early medieval alphabet used mainly to write early Irish, surviving on about 400 stone inscriptions. Medieval tracts linked the letter names with trees; using ogham for divination is mainly a modern Neopagan and Neo-Druid practice, much influenced by Robert Graves’s now-discredited theories.

Cultural, safety and licence notes

A draw is a prompt for reflection, not a prediction. The tree associations are medieval and modern, not proven ancient lore.
