Background
Pyromancy is divination by means of fire or flames. Daphnomancy, a form of it, read the crackling of burning bay laurel leaves: a loud crackle was a good omen, silence a bad one.
How it works
An offering or plant is burned and the flame’s colour, height, movement or sound is interpreted.
Notes and limits
Safety: Fire is dangerous: never burn things indoors without care, never leave flames unattended, and follow local fire rules.
