Background
Onomancy is divination based on a person’s name. It gained popularity in Europe during the late Middle Ages and is said to have originated with the Pythagoreans.
How it works
A name is analysed by letter count, letter values (arithmancy or gematria) or comparison with another name, and the result is read as an omen.
